“Working in the Middle East, in authoritarian countries, you're always just used to the fact that any moment you can be targeted or arrested or singled out and shot at or something.

In the US, I operated with this assumption that as long as you stay out of people's way, you have the right to film, and the security forces here will not mess with you.

And in Minneapolis, I think that was a really blatant example of no, actually, we were targeted by the security forces and no matter what we did, no matter how out of the way that we tried to be, how much we presented ourselves as press -- that was actually the reason that we got attacked.”
